There are numerous mind control techniques anyone can learn to improve their life.  Some of these include meditation, self hypnosis, astral projection, and lucid dreaming.  Learning any of these techniques can take time, practice, and sometimes patience.  In order to get a better understanding of what is required, we will take a look at how to learn self hypnosis.  Many mind control techniques have common threads so when you have learned one; it is generally easier to learn others.

Self hypnosis is the same as traditional hypnosis except that a person does it to themselves instead of going to see a hypnotherapist.  It can be used for a variety of things such as weight loss, to stop smoking, gain self esteem, improve sports performance, deal with anxiety, and even improve sleep.  There are numerous other reasons a person may want to use self hypnosis as the list can seem endless.  The benefits to learning this mind control technique are cost savings, time savings, and even the benefit of using it for multiple applications at any time.

To begin self hypnosis, you must first decide exactly what it is you want to use it for.  When you have done this, come up with one or two sentences that are positive in nature in regards to your goal.  If you want to lose weight you may want a statement such as, “I enjoy putting only healthy foods that are good for me into my body.”  Always use positive words and not any statements that have negativity in them.  If you want to do more than one statement, your second one could be something about enjoying exercise, etc.

It is important to have a comfortable, quiet place in which you can concentrate without distraction.  In the beginning it can be difficult to focus if you are bombarded with noises or interruptions.  Sit down in a comfortable reclining chair or position that you can comfortably maintain without falling asleep.  When you are comfortable, begin using deep breathing techniques.  Close your eyes and breathe deeply in through your nose, completely filling your lungs, and then let the air out of your mouth in a gentle, even flow.  Do this for several minutes, calming your mind and your body while letting the tensions and stressors from the day leave your body.  Allow your mind to let go of any thoughts and worries you may have.  If necessary, focus on your breathing until you are able to not think of anything else.

When you have reached a calm, clear state of mind it is time for you to repeat your statements to yourself.  It is good to repeat them about five times each.  Remember to speak slowly and clearly, acknowledging the words as you say each one of them.  Let your body absorb the words and their meaning.  After you have done this, continue your breathing exercises for several minutes and then begin to slowly bring yourself back to awareness of the world around you.  As you begin to become more aware of the world around you, take the time to slowly bring your thoughts about the session to your mind.  After opening your eyes take a few minutes to just relax.  When you decide to get up, do so slowly.  Being in an altered state of mind can present balance problems when standing up, so it’s best to take your time and be safe.  Drink a tall glass of water after your session and know that you will feel back to normal in a few minutes.

In order to get the greatest benefit from self hypnosis, it should be practiced two or three times a week.  Depending on what you are using it for, most people begin to see results in a few weeks to a couple of months.  The great thing about self hypnosis is that once you’ve mastered the technique, you can use it for anything.  If you have finally lost that excess weight you’ve wanted to drop, you can now focus on something else.  Maybe you want to get the most out of your workouts or want to take your newfound athleticism to a greater height.  Self hypnosis is ready for you when you are and can be used the rest of your life for greater success in any area.
