English: Pregnant woman at a WIC clinic in Vir...

Being pregnant can take a toll on any woman. For women that are pregnant for the first time it can be a big adventure that is full of surprises and unknowns.

Some women think because they watch a few TV shows or movies they know what to expect while going through pregnancy. The truth is, there things that most women just don’t expect while they are pregnant. Take a look at 9 things that nobody tells you about being pregnant.

    Working Can Harm Your Baby

You are putting your baby’s health at great risk when you decide to keep working while pregnant. It has been proven that pregnant women who continue to work beyond the 8th month will give birth to babies that are lighter than what they should be. Moreover, the physical stress from working a job can lead to reduced blood flow to the uterus, which can cause problems such as preterm labor.

    Tough Time Concentrating

If you are pregnant you’ll find it tough to full concentrate on things. This is mainly due to feeling mentally and physically drained because of the morning sickness and fatigue associated with pregnancy. Even pregnant women who are getting enough rest daily will still experience problems focusing properly and moments when they are forgetful.

Eating Fish Can Help Your Baby

Omega-3 fatty acids normally found in fish like salmon can help your unborn baby by providing it with essential nutrients. These essential nutrients will help improve the brain function of your baby and help prevent colds your baby may experience after he or she is born. Other than salmon, rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids include trout, tuna, flaxseeds, and walnuts.

Longer Labor If You Are Scared of Giving Birth

Women who are scared of giving birth will usually experience longer times during labor. The best way to prevent this is to go to meditation classes and learn some breathing techniques that will help you during labor and also help you not worry about giving birth too much.

    Your Breast Size Might Increase

While pregnant your breast size will probably increase. The amount of the hormones progesterone and estrogen in your body will increase during the first trimester making your breasts grow.

Your breast will also increase because when you are pregnant your lung will expand in order to breath in more oxygen for you and the baby. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself changing bra sizes numerous times while you are pregnant.

You Will Feel Closer To The Father

This unborn baby that you and your partner just created will keep the two of you bonded for a lifetime, whether you like it or not. You and the baby’s father are now family and because of this you will uncontrollably feel closer to him than you ever did.

    Your Feet Will Swell

You already know you won’t be able to fit none of your regular clothes as you will double in size during the pregnancy. However, you might find it hard to fit your shoes properly also.

When you are pregnant you will experience additional fluid in your body that will spread to your feet, causing your feet to swell. It is best to invest in some slip on shoes to help your feet feel more comfy while pregnant.

Naming The Baby Can Be Tough

Believe it or not, but naming the unborn child can be one of the toughest things you’ll have to do during your pregnancy. Some women have a number of ideas for naming their baby before they get pregnant.

However, when they actually get pregnant they start second guessing all of the different names they had in mind. What can make things even more complicated when it comes to choosing the name is getting the baby’s father to agree on the same name. Deciding on the right name for your baby can easily turn into an obsession.

The First 3 Months are The Toughest

The chance of a miscarriage happening is at its highest during the first 3 months of being pregnant. Women who have previously experienced a miscarriage in the past; the first 3 months will have them scared and worried that they won’t be able to successfully carry the pregnancy full term.

If you make it past the first trimester you will experience a much smoother pregnancy, as not only will the chance of a miscarriage happening be reduced but symptoms such as morning sickness will also be reduced. If you can make it to the second trimester you will begin to relax more about your pregnancy.
